Safety issues

It is not compulsory for VCGH riders to wear a cycle helmet. However, as experienced cyclists, Velo Club Godalming and Haslemere Limited would recommend the use of helmets for cycling at all times, however this should not be taken as a statement of support for legal helmet compulsion in the UK.

Cycling is an activity that carries a level of personal risk by its nature and calls for the rider to take responsibility for their own actions on the bike. During Velo Club Godalming and Haslemere Limited rides, this risk and responsibility must still be borne by the individual rider. Cycling is an exhilarating experience, however, it is very important that both beginners and advanced riders always ride with the safety of themselves and others in mind. Cycling is a dangerous sport and can cause injury or even death. The owner(s) and contributors of this site cannot be responsible for any injuries or damage (to people or property) caused through the following of any advice or suggestions contained within www.vcgodalming.co.uk or www.vcgh.co.uk

The owner(s) & contributors of this site in its efforts to promote safe, fun cycling and as a community service, displays and allows to be displayed on its web site, various activities of interest to its members and other non-members. The owner(s) & contributors of this site assumes no responsibility for any event listed or displayed, nor is it responsible for member or non-member conduct before, during or after any of these listed events. All cyclists undertake this sport at their own risk.

No parties may be held responsible for errors, omissions or loss resulting from use of material in this Website.

In order to ride safely we recommend that you:

1) Always read your cycling product instructions, safety warnings and riding tips
2) Learn to ride your bike on easy terrain until you are competent
3) Get expert advice on any aspect of cycling you are unsure of

You should only attempt advanced cycling activities when you have become an experienced and competent rider. Always use the appropriate safety equipment for each activity, which can include helmets, gloves, knee pads and elbow pads. We strongly advise that you get expert advice from your dealer before attempting any advanced mountain biking activities.
